Coffee Roasting with Passion

Paul and Grace Kurtz founded Hemisphere Coffee Roasters 22 years ago with a mission to transform coffee communities through business. Paul is a certified Q Grader and frequently visits coffee growing countries to personalize these relationships and ensure the best coffee is ending up in your cup. We've seen lives transformed, communities lifted out of poverty, pastors funded, debts paid in full, and relationships of mutual trust and respect established. Not bad for a cup of coffee!

Our Mission

Hemisphere Coffee Roasters (HCR) was founded in 2002 with a vision to make a difference in coffee-growing communities. When you purchase coffee from Hemisphere Coffee Roasters, you are investing in the lives of coffee growers, their workers, their families and communities. This coffee benefits the Kingdom of God around the world. HCR has developed deep relationships with coffee farmers in  East Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central America. We are buying their highest-grade coffee, paying them premium prices in return.  This is truly Fair Trade. We call it Direct-Trade Coffee.

Direct-Trade coffee is based on an open, honest relationship of trust  between the grower and the roaster. Farmers share with us the cost  involved in producing and transporting these coffees. We in turn pay  fair prices where the whole supply chain can benefit We have visited  these farmers, and have a deep respect  for one another. This is not a hand out or charity, but simply good business.

Cafe Diego

Hemisphere Coffee Roasters was introduced to Diego Chavarria and his family through the mission work of Rosedale Mennonite Missions. Over the years, we have cultivated a deep relationship with the Chavarria family and consistently purchase their premium green coffee directly. This empowers these men to pay their workers a competitive wage, sustain the farm, and support the pastors and ministries of their workers and families.

We currently purchase 2 -3 containers each year and the quality continues to improve. Over 60 churches in the Matagalpa Mountains have been planted and are supported from these coffee purchases. Be sure to watch the documentary “CAFE DIEGO the Cost of a Dream” at: www.cafediegomovie.com
